PSYCHEDELIC CHAPLAINCY – A WORKSHOP ON ETHICS, LAW, SPIRITUALITY, AND COMMUNITY
Yeshua Adonai
As psychedelics gain recognition in religious and spiritual contexts, psychedelic chaplaincy is emerging as a bridge between mysticism, ethics, law, and community practice. This interactive workshop will explore how chaplaincy, religious traditions, and psychedelic communities are integrating altered states while navigating legal, ethical, and governance challenges.
Drawing from my role as Psychedelic Church Program Lead at Homecoming and experiences with Harvard Divinity School, Harvard Law, Psychedelic Science, Chacruna Institute, Sacred Plant Alliance, MAPS, and serving as a liaison to psychedelic churches nationwide—as well as defending my constitutional religious rights in court as a Psychedelic Guide and Minister—this session will explore:
Psychedelics & Spirituality – The role of chaplaincy in sacramental practice and integration.
Law & Religious Rights – Understanding RFRA, legal protections, and court challenges for psychedelic churches.
Ethics & Integrity – Addressing power dynamics, informed consent, and best practices.
Community & Governance – Developing sustainable models for psychedelic religious organizations.
Spiritual Assessment – The need for standardized tools to measure transformation and ethical growth.
A key takeaway from recent discussions at Harvard Law and my work with psychedelic religious organizations is that while psychedelic sacraments are gaining recognition, the field lacks infrastructure, research-backed methodologies, and governance models for long-term sustainability. Through integrity frameworks, chaplaincy training, and legal advocacy, we can support the ethical evolution of psychedelic religious communities.
This workshop is for spiritual caregivers, legal advocates, and community members seeking practical insights into psychedelic chaplaincy, religious rights, and ethical leadership in this emerging field.
