Chasing Dragonflies ME

My name is Hannah! Chasing Dragonflies is a Maine based, nature inspired art business featuring my original photography and real mushroom spore prints. I have a variety of favorite photo subjects including tree bark, animals, plants, and of course a variety of mushrooms. Many of my handmade pieces begin with an original photograph on paper or vinyl. I size and print based on the intended product, and everything is created by hand. My work includes photo jewelry, ceramic tile coasters, and magnets domed or coated with epoxy resin. I also frame select images and create photo print greeting card sets.

I am perhaps most excited to share my real mushroom spore print necklaces at this year’s Fungi Fest! I have enjoyed making prints for years and appreciate the unique beauty of each mushroom “fingerprint”. Rather than returning the spores to nature, I always wished I could keep them to enjoy or display. So, in 2022 I spent over 8 months of trial and error designing a method of creating prints on painted paper and preserving the spores under vinyl. The finished product is placed in a stainless-steel necklace pendant and dome with jewelry resin to be enjoyed for years to come. Each pendant (like each print) is one of a kind and all mushrooms are from Western Maine.
